MINUTES OF AGM OF VISAKHAPATNAM VIVEKANANDA YUVA MAHAMANDAL HELD ON 28-06-2009(SUNDAY) AT SRI GANAPATHI SEVA SAMITHI,GOORKHA LINE

Annual General Meeting was started at 10 a.m. with Flag hoisting by Sri R.S.Prem Kumar, the first President of Visakhapatnam Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal..Jyothi Prajwalana was done by Sri Pappu Hanumantharao,RK Mission Devotee and three time state best teacher awardee.Programme was started with Mahamandal Anthem,Swadeshi Mantra,Sri Narayani Stotram and Sri Sarda Devi Stotram.

Tributes paid to Sri K.Venkata Rao,VVYM Member who passed away prematurally at the age of 47 years in May ,2009.He was an unselfish social worker who used to give shelter to orphans and place them at suitable orphanage and used to follow up them.Sri D.Venkatrao,VVYM Member spoke about his social work.

Welcome address was given by Sri N.Lakshminarayana,President,VVYM

Sri R.S.Premkumar addressed VVYM Members and well-wishers.He spoke inspiringly about Swami Vivekananda and ideals of Mahamandal and Be&Make concept.He shared his Annual camp experience which he attended in 1990.

Sri P.Hanumantha Rao explained character-builing ideas of Ramayana.

Sri P.Krishnamohana Rao,RK Mission devotee shared his ideas on Swami Vivekananda.

Sri B.Praveen Kumar,former treasurer of VVYM who came from Gulf on vacation spoke about his camp experience.

Arise!Awake!Exhibition was also organized at the venue.


Annual report for the year 2008-2009 was read out by the secretary and passed.

Statement of Accounts for the year 2008-2009 was read out by the secretary and passed.

Proposals for the year 2009-2010 were discussed.

VVYM site review & Building fund status were discussed.

The following action plan was proposed for the year 2008-2009
1) To Conduct free coaching classes for Govt. Polytechnic, Visakhapatnam students.
2) To run a small library(with technical books) for polytechnic students. Some members came out and proposed for sponsoring news papers, dictionaries etc., to the libarary.
3) To procure site for VVYM before next AGM as building fund reached nearly 2 lacs.
4) To publish telugu booklet of “The idea and the method of the Mahamandal” after taking approval from the central organization.It was translated by Sri R.S.Premkumar in 1991 during his presence in AU Vivekananda Study Circle.
5) To form Sub- Committees for the effective functioning of VVYM by next Executive committee meeting.
6) To sponsor more students for ABVYM Annual Youth Training camp.Sri B.Praveenkumar is willing to sponsor few polytechinic students for the Annual camp.
7) To accept regular voluntary donations from the members for the effective running of VVYM
8) To enroll like- minded young men as members
9) To encourage youngmen to start study circles in their locality.
10) To encourage youngmen to come forward voluntarly(with family consent) for Eye-Donation.Our Asst.Secretary Sri D.Venkatarao can be contacted for further deatails.

I. VIVEKANANDA STUDY CIRCLES

a) VIVEKANANDA STUDY CIRCLE (Mahamandal Office)
The study circle was held on all Sundays between 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. during the year 2008-2009 at Sri Ganapathi Seva Samithi, Gorkha Line, Visakhapatnam in which Vivekananda: His call to the Nation and useful stories books are being read and discussed. Vivekananda’s My life and Mission, Vivekananda speaks to you were completed. Vivek-Jivan is also being read.

II. VIVEK – VAHINI
Vivek – Vahini (childrens wing of VVYM) at Kancharapalem is being organized on all Sundays (except during vacation) in which yoga asana classes, moral lessons and patriotic songs are being taught to children.

III. 20TH ANNIVERSAY CELEBRATIONS OF VVYM
Visakhapatnam Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal (VVYM) completed 20 years (1988-2008) of its journey with Akhil Bharat Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal (ABVYM) in propagating and preaching Swamiji’s Be & Make concept. On this occasion we have organized a Day-Long programme on 16.11.2008 (Sunday) at 42nd ward building of Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation.
This programme was started at 9AM with Mahamandal flag hoisting and Mahamandal Anthem, flag was hoisted by Swami Guneshanandaji Maharaj, RK Mission Ashrama, Visakhapatnam.In his welcome address our President Sri N. Laxmi Narayana spoke about the starting of the study circle in A.U. Engg. college hostel in 1988, its subsequent affiliation with ABVYM to become VVYM.

Sri P.L. Narasimha Rao, R.K. Devotee, who is well known for RK Math (Visakhapatanm) devotees spoke on the Message of Sri Ramakrishna and Holy Mother to the present day world. In this speech, he stressed the need for present day youth, why introspective view is required to keep values in society.
Swami Guneshanandaji Maharaj spoke on ‘How the present day youth can practice Swami Vivekananda’s ideas’. During his speech, Maharaj stressed on Why Swami Vivekananda shall be an Ideal for Youth, What is education, What is character, What is Man making education. Maharaj answered several questions that were put by participants.Later Swami Guneshanandaji Maharaj released mahamandal new Telugu booklet “Solving the Problems: The Vivekananda Way”, this book was translated into Telugu by Sri T. Laxmi Narayana Rao, Senior Mahamandal member (Nellore). Sri G. Sridhar, 42nd ward corporator, who generously allotted the premises free of cost, released re-print of “Short Life Stories of Sri Ramakrishna, Sarada, Vivekananda (Telugu version)”.
Swami Guneshanandaji Maharaj presented mementos to volunteers and members of VVYM who have long association with VVYM.
Sri P. Munuswamy, Mahamandal ,Senior Member, Raipur spoke about his experiences with Mahamandal. He spoke on how Swami Vivekananda’s ideas can be practised in real life.With the help of Sri V. Vijayakumar, Field publicity officer (Govt. of India), a short film on “Personality Development” (Telugu), which was developed by RK Math (Chennai), was screened.Sri. K. Venkata Rao, Mahamandal member, spoke about his service activities for Orphanage rehabilitation and problems faced in his service activities. Sri. Ch. Sravan Kumar, Mahamandal member, spoke on his ABVYM Annual camp experiences. Sri D. Venkata Rao, EC member, spoke on the progress of VVYM site acquisition. Sri. Ch.V.S.K.N. Soma Raju, Treasurer, appealed participants and well- wishers of Mahamandal to generously donate for VVYM building. Sri P. Ravi Chandra, EC member, spoke on the progress of VVYM Digitization work.

Sri. Y.V. Tarak, Srujanavani Voluntary organization, spoke on How Youth can participate in the service activities and shared his organization experience in this regard with participants.

Secreatry presented 20 years report on VVYM activities.Arise! Awake! Exhibition and Book stall on Swamji literature were arranged. Around 150 members and well-wishers of VVYM participated in the day-long programme.

Programme was ended with Flag down, Mahamandal anthem at 1700 hrs. and Vote of thanks.

IV(a) SWAMI RANGANATHANANDAJI’S BIRTH CENTENARY PARTICIPATION

Our members in good number participated and volunteered at Swami Ranganathanandaji’s birth centenary celebrations that were organised by our former president Sri M.Satayanarayana Raju at A.U.Golden Jubliee Guest House seminar hall on 09-12-2008 where our reprinted booklet on Swami Ranganathananda was released and it is distributed to all participants.

IV(b) ABVYM ANNUAL YOUTH TRAINING CAMP

11 members of VVYM (our Secretary Sri B.Sreedhar and 10 A.U.Engg Study Circle members) and 2 members from Srujanavani group, in total 13 people attended, the number crossed 10 for the first time from Andhra Pradesh, the 42nd Annual All India Youth Training Camp organized by Akhil Bharat Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal from Dec. 25th, 2008-Dec,30th,2008 at Gangadharpur Shikshan Mandir B.Ed.College, Gangadharpur, Dist. Howrah, West Bengal. All participants has visited Belur math and Dakshineswar Kali Temple.

Sri Nabaniharan Mukhopadhay, President ABVYM, blessed our team by conducting two sessions of Room discussions. ABVYM requested VVYM to send more members every year to take Mahamandal movement in Andhra Pradesh in a large way.

V. Mahamandal Telugu booklets
1.Solving the problems: The Vivekananda Way ,Akhil Bharat Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal booklet was translated into telugu by Sri Turlapati Lakshminarayanarao of Nellore.It was published into Telugu after taking from ABVYM approval.2000 copies published.Priced at Rs 3/-
2.Vivekananda ,youth and new India booklet reprinted in telugu(1000 copies) and was got released at Swami Ranganathanandaji’s birth anniversary on 09-12-2008.

VI. Arise Awake Exhibition
Five Arise! Awake! Exhibitions were organized at different places,around 950 people visited the exhibition.

VII. National Youth Day
Participated in the National Youth Day procession organized by Ramakrishna Mission, Visakhapatnam on 12.01.2009.
We have organised elocution and essay writing to students of Muncipal Corporation High school,Kancharapalem on 18-01-2009 and distributed certificates and books to the winners.An Arise!Awake !Exhibition was also arranged in the school.

VIII. Blood donation camp
Blood donation camp was organized on 25-01-2009 on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s Birth Anniversary at AS Raja Blood Bank, around 20 young men donated blood at the camp, which includes VVYM Members, APL Employees & Engineering College Students.

IX. VVYM Bank account
A new saving's bank account (Joint account with president,secretary and treasurer) in Andhra Bank, St.Anns School extension counter, Butchirajupalem was opened, after completion of required formalities, in the name of "Visakhapatnam Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal" on 27/02/2009 on the occasion of Sri Ramakrishna's 174 th birth anniversary.

It is having online accounting system. Donations and subscriptions can be deposited on line with intimation to VVYM by mail or Phone.

SITE SEARCHING FOR MAHAMANDAL BUILDING
Few places in Narva and venakatapalem(Near LG Polymers) were seen for Mahamandal building purpose.Site requisition appeal also submitted to Visakhapatnam District Collector .

BUILDING FUND APPEAL
On the occasion of Sri Ramakrishna’s 174 th birth anniversary we released ‘Visakhapatnam Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal Building Fund’appeal to the general public and devotees and separate building fund receipt books were published.
